Why Upgrade the Creality LD-002R to a Mono LCD?
The original Creality LD-002R uses a 5.5-inch 2K RGB LCD. Monochrome LCD technology provides higher UV light transmittance than traditional RGB LCDs, making it suitable for faster resin curing and longer-term UV exposure.
The mono LCD upgrade also provides a higher contrast ratio designed for resin 3D printing, which can help improve the definition and sharpness of printed details.
Faster Printing
Mono LCDs have better UV light transmittance, allowing resin to cure with shorter exposure times under suitable printing conditions. The original product guidance uses approximately 2.5 seconds as a reference exposure time for the mono LCD, compared with approximately 8–12 seconds for the original RGB LCD.
Actual exposure settings depend on the resin, layer height, printer condition, and other printing parameters. Calibrate exposure settings after installation.
Longer LCD Lifespan
Monochrome LCDs are optimized for long-term exposure to UV light. The original product information estimates a potential operating life of over 2,000 hours for the mono LCD, compared with approximately 200 hours for the original RGB LCD.
Actual LCD lifespan varies depending on resin, exposure settings, printing frequency, operating temperature, and other usage conditions.
Improved Contrast for Resin 3D Printing
The monochrome LCD is designed specifically for resin 3D printing applications. Its contrast characteristics can help produce sharper model details compared with the original RGB LCD technology.
Designed for Creality LD-002R
The original Creality LD-002R uses a 5.5-inch Sharp04 2K RGB LCD. This upgrade solution is designed to convert the LD-002R to a mono LCD configuration similar to the LD-002H.
After the modification, the effective printing area becomes larger than the original 5.5-inch screen, but it does not reach the full physical 6.08-inch area. Use the recommended printer settings after completing the upgrade.
Firmware Update
Firmware must be updated according to the requirements of the upgrade kit.
You only need to update the .CBD file and .SH4 file.

CHITUBOX Settings After the Upgrade
Use the LD-002H Profile
After installing the mono LCD upgrade kit, you can directly use the Creality LD-002H profile in CHITUBOX as the recommended starting profile.
Because the modified printing area is larger than the original 5.5-inch LCD but does not reach the full 6.08-inch physical screen size, use the recommended settings for the upgraded LD-002R rather than treating it as a full 6.08-inch printable area.
Exposure settings: The values above are reference values from the original product documentation. Resin manufacturers, resin colors, layer heights, and printing conditions can require different exposure settings. Perform an exposure test after the upgrade before starting production prints.
