Why Upgrade the Anycubic Photon to a Mono LCD?
The original Anycubic Photon uses a Sharp04 5.5-inch 2K RGB LCD. Monochrome LCD technology has become widely used in resin 3D printers because of its higher UV light transmittance and suitability for repeated UV exposure.
Upgrading the original Anycubic Photon to a monochrome LCD can provide several advantages compared with the original RGB LCD configuration.
Faster Printing Speed
The mono LCD has better UV light transmittance, allowing resin to cure with shorter exposure times under the same printing conditions.
In the original product testing and CHITUBOX settings, exposure time for the mono LCD can be around 2.5 seconds, while the original RGB LCD configuration uses approximately 8–12 seconds. Actual exposure settings depend on the resin and printing conditions.
Longer LCD Lifespan
The monochrome LCD is optimized for long-term operation under UV light. The original product information estimates a working life of over 2,000 hours for the mono LCD, compared with about 200 hours for the original RGB LCD.
Better Contrast Ratio
The monochrome screen is designed for resin 3D printing applications. Its contrast characteristics can help improve model detail and sharpness.
ChiTu L V2 Motherboard for Anycubic Photon
This upgrade kit comes with a ChiTu L V2 motherboard that supports the 6-inch-class monochrome LCD configuration.
For the complete upgrade kit, the V2 board comes with the correct firmware to support the new mono screen. No firmware update is required.
Anycubic Photon Installation
For the original Anycubic Photon, the upgrade process uses the included ChiTu L V2 motherboard and 6.08-inch monochrome LCD.
Follow the installation video carefully when replacing the original screen and installing the upgraded board.
CHITUBOX Settings After the Upgrade
After installing the mono LCD upgrade kit, adjust the printer settings in CHITUBOX for the upgraded hardware.
You can use the ELEGOO Mars 2 Pro settings as a reference or add the default printer directly from CHITUBOX.
The board comes with the correct firmware, so there is no need to update the firmware when using the complete upgrade kit.
Recommended CHITUBOX Settings
The actual printable area after the modification is larger than the original 5.5-inch screen area, but it does not reach the full 6.08-inch LCD area. Use the recommended settings shown below.
Z-Axis Direction Adjustment
If the Z-axis direction is incorrect after installing the upgrade, you can edit the M8004 parameter to correct the direction.
Alternatively, you can directly print the prepared parameter file provided for correcting the Z-axis direction.

Firmware Information
If you purchase the complete Anycubic Photon Mono LCD Upgrade Kit with the ChiTu L V2 board, the board already has the correct firmware. No firmware update is required.
If your printer already has a ChiTu L V3 board, you can download the corresponding firmware separately.

Can This Kit Work for Anycubic Photon S?
No. This product is designed for the original Anycubic Photon.
If you have an Anycubic Photon S, use the dedicated Photon S Mono LCD Upgrade Kit instead. The Photon S requires a different upgrade process because of cable differences.
